DC’s Pandas Departing to China on FedEx 777

,

Today three pandas left DC in style on the FedEx 777 with the panda sticker. These three pandas are the last pandas to step foot on U.S soil for a very long time. The FedEx 777 (N886FD) flew from Memphis Tennessee to Washington Dulles (FX9791). At Washington the 777 picked up the three pandas, Mei Xiang, Tian Tian, and Xiao Qi Ji. As shown in the picture above two of the pandas are getting lifted to go inside the cargo hold of the 777. After loading all the pandas and things they need to survive on the 19 hour trip to China, the 777 departed on runway 1C inbound for Anchorage Alaska (FX9758), where it will fuel up before delivering them to Chengdu China. The reason the pandas are going back to China is because the contract with China is expiring in December. There is no word on when and if the pandas will ever come back on American soil.
